There's something refreshing from that small town environment where people still have that pioneering spirit. It's the friendly attitudes, hospitality and kindness constantly extended by the local residents. Part of it comes from the fresh air and being so in touch with rugged high desert nature found only on the east side of the Cascades.
Some immediately feel the town spirit on Flag day or 4th of July, when the main street flows with the pride of hundreds of American Flags. Or so many connect with one of the several Redmond parades, a scene straight from Norman Rockwell, as pickup trucks pulling trailers parade in colorful and decorative fashion down the street. Where the floats are very home-made. From politicians to cheerleaders, mixed in with the high school band, nothing fancy and expensive here.
Or maybe you can relax and feel true peace with your city family during one of the warm summer evening "Concert in the Park" series. Where families drive, walk, and bike together, to have dinner in the park and listen to one of many bands that come through Redmond.
And it just doesn't stop, every season, every year, there's something for everyone. So come and find out what other Redmond and Central Oregon residents have already found, a down-to-earth way of life, with its priorities on straight. You just might find yourself eventually kicking back somewhere in Redmond, and begin to feel the years of stress from the big city just melt away.
