Central Oregonians love their cars. With high mountain sunshine and hundreds of miles of scenic roadways, it is no wonder Redmond is home to numerous car clubs and events throughout the year.
A well-known benefit of our dry climate is the lack of rust, helping classic treasures last for years. This also increases the likelihood of great “barn finds” being discovered in remarkably well-preserved condition. What car buff hasn’t dreamed of finding that perfect one-owner, low-mile classic just sitting in a forgotten location, waiting to be discovered and brought back to life?
Truly, nothing is more woven into the American fabric than the automobile and the love affair with chrome, steel and glass is an integral part of life in Central Oregon. Hang around a few car events and you will hear great stories of cars once owned, junkyard relics, and fond memories of dream machines from the past.
While you will find classic cars out on the road anytime the sun is shining, the first car show of the season is traditionally in April and the season continues through October.
With so many car shows happening throughout the region, you’ll surely have an opportunity to experience and admire some of these rolling works of art.
