Redmond’s History

In the year 1904, two pioneers by the names of Frank and Josephine Redmond established a homestead next to a canal in the middle of the High Desert. As agriculture expanded, and more people made their way to Central Oregon, the city of Redmond was founded and incorporated in 1910. With the railroad coming through soon after in 1911, Redmond saw considerable growth as the Hub of Central Oregon, expanding into the cattle and lumber industries. Today Redmond thrives as a Hub of recreation, manufacturing, and aerospace engineering. As architecture, culture, and industry are ever evolving, we enjoy looking back on the past and appreciating our roots.
