Springtime Adventures in Redmond, Oregon: Hiking, Antiquing, and Craft Beer

When the thermometer drops and the snow flies, it’s time to get outside and bask in the beauty of a wintry Central Oregon — and Redmond is in the middle of it all! We’ve highlighted our favorite winter activities, recreation, and events that will keep you going until spring.

Day 1: Hiking and Antiquing

Begin your day with a hike at Smith Rock State Park, which offers breathtaking views of the Crooked River and towering rock formations. The park has several trails for all skill levels, including the 2.5-mile Misery Ridge Trail and the 3.8-mile River Trail. Be sure to bring your camera as the views are simply stunning!

After your hike, head over to the Redmond Antique Mall or Beyond the Ranch Antiques to indulge in some antiquing. These shops have a wide array of antiques and collectibles for visitors of all ages to explore.

Day 2: More Hiking and Craft Beer

Start your day off with a hike at Tumalo Falls, a stunning 97-foot waterfall located just a short drive from Redmond. The trail to the falls is an easy 1.5-mile hike, making it perfect for families with young children. After your hike, take a picnic lunch to enjoy at one of the many picnic tables in the area.

In the afternoon, head back to town to check out Wild Ride Brewing. This family-friendly brewery offers a range of craft beers and ciders, as well as a food truck lot where you can grab a bite to eat. The outdoor seating area is perfect for families to relax and enjoy the sunshine while sipping on a delicious beer.

Day 3: Exploring the Dry Canyon and Redmond Caves

Spend the day exploring the beauty of Sam Johnson Park in the Dry Canyon. This park system in the middle of town features a four-mile paved trail system and numerous parks. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a family picnic in one of the beautiful parks, or take a stroll along the trail system and soak up the natural beauty of the area.

In the afternoon, head to the Redmond Caves to explore the fascinating underground lava tubes. These natural wonders are a must-see for anyone visiting the area. Take a guided tour to learn about the geological history of the caves and the fascinating creatures that call them home.
