This is known as Oregon’s best known ghost town. In 1910, there were five saloons, three hotels, and a number of business buildings. In 2010, the population was 50. Some of the old buildings still stand. The famous Shaniko two story hotel was built in 1900 with handmade brick. Shaniko was originally the wool capital of the West.
