On behalf of the City Council and the Redmond community, I am pleased to welcome you to the City of Redmond. We hope that you will find Redmond to be a friendly, dynamic, and engaging place to visit as well as conduct business. Surrounded by the scenic high desert, snowcapped mountains, fish filled rivers, world class golf courses and pristine lakes; the City of Redmond is located in the heart of Oregon. Our community thrives in the center of these tremendous natural and recreational resources, and is committed to cultivating a welcoming, business-friendly environment.
Home to Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM), the region’s commercial air service provider, and with convenient rail and highway transportation options, Redmond is strategically positioned for businesses to access and serve the global economy. The City of Redmond and its economic development partners work in concert to make it easy for small, medium-sized and large companies to establish healthy foundations for success.
Not only does Redmond offer a diverse region and access to multiple markets to do business, but it is a tight-knit community actively supported by its residents. While we are home to large industries that serve our agriculture, manufacturing and construction industries, we equally embrace locally owned businesses, both large and small, from across all industries. Well documented as a “business-friendly community,” the Redmond City Council has worked diligently to create an environment that encourages business growth and profitability.
Primary employers in Redmond have found that access to the regional workforce – due to its central location in the region – low cost industrial land, competitive utility costs, reasonable workers compensation costs (lowest of all western states), and low-cost housing for employees, provides the needed infrastructure and services to make our community an ideal place to operate. Home to a diverse industry mix, companies located here represent sectors in medical and military devices, precision metals manufacturing, fabrication and machining, secondary wood products and renewable energy products manufacturing, machinery repair, sales and distribution, aviation and aerospace, medical insurance, claims processing and customer care. Numerous locally owned and national chain retail outlets as well as world class medical and professional services also reside in Redmond.
Just as Redmond is known as “The Hub” of Central Oregon’s transportation system, so is it the telecommunications center for the region. Our youthful city offers businesses and residents world class telecommunications options, and education and workforce training via our progressive school district and Central Oregon Community College’s Manufacturing and Applied Technology Center (MATC).
I invite you to evaluate the Redmond community as a place to grow your business.
