Top quality health care is one of Central Oregon’s crown jewels. Redmond, along with the rest of Central Oregon, has a disproportionately large concentration of world-class physicians and specialists, attracted to the area for quality-of-life reasons. The region’s research and care in cardiology and orthopedics lead the nation.
St. Charles Redmond is a fully accredited, 48-bed hospital with more than 150 active and visiting medical staff members. Services include 24-hour emergency care, intensive/cardiac care, physical, respiratory and nutritional therapy, radiology, surgery, and a rehabilitation center. Physicians practice in a number of fields including internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general/vascular, urology, orthopedics, pathology, and other specialties.
St. Charles also owns and operates several physician clinics in Redmond including St. Charles Family Care, St. Charles OB/GYN, and St. Charles Surgical Specialists. The health system operates a sleep center in Redmond along with a medical oncology clinic.
In 2012, St. Charles launched its telemedicine program by placing a robot in the Intensive Care Unit in Redmond. The robot allows physicians at the ICU in Bend to visually assess patients in order to reduce the need to transfer them from one facility to the next. The program has made it easier for patients and families to receive the care they need close to home.
