ART & CULTURE
IN REDMOND OREGON
AS ARTSY AS EVER
We attribute our small town kindness to a few key things, and one of them is our growing community of arts and culture in Redmond, Oregon. When you’ve got beautiful mountains and flourishing culture – well, that gets us smiling ear to ear.
Art is easy to access around Redmond. We celebrate First Friday art walks, and downtown businesses share their wares from photography to retail to food and drink. Stroll Redmond anytime for Art Around the Clock – a program of public art pieces. Save the date for Redmond’s Northern Lights Festival every December where laser lights project artsy images onto popular buildings and businesses throughout downtown Redmond. We also have holiday editions of the Northern Lights Festival every Halloween, Valentine’s Day and St. Patricks Day weekends. Pose for a photo by the “Greetings from Redmond…” art mural in downtown.
Central Oregon hosts art festivals throughout the year – one particular highlight is the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in July. (This event is on many people’s Bucket List.) For kitchy-yet-natural art, we love to wander through the Petersen Rock Garden and Museum with its miniature rock castles and museum celebrating agates, geodes and fossils.
The movers and shakers of Redmond are always game for live music. There are several spots around town to enjoy, from pubs to outdoor venues. The High Desert Music Hall hosts concerts plus dance parties, art shows and more. As a converted church with a tattoo parlor downstairs, it’s got that eclectic Redmond vibe. Count on General Duffy’s Waterhole for lively concerts on both their outdoor and indoor stages. For a historic, cinematic experience we love going for a bite, brew and movie at the Odem Theatre.
